Established in 2005, our founders – Trent and Mike, could see that the Australian Utilities sector needed software solutions that could be trusted to adapt alongside the ever-evolving needs and regulations of the market.

As we grew, so did our product range. Why? Because we continued to see errors in data coming from other systems that were heavily impacting the revenue and reputation of our customers. We identified that so many organisations were being forced to make costly decisions due to inaccurate or incomplete data flowing between market participants, regulators and consumers.

The Australian Utility sector is dynamic and, at times, uncertain. There is no doubt that a new direction for Energy is needed. To us, being Brave is about being the one sure thing for our customers. Modern systems that are built around the industry itself will give Utilities the best opportunity to deal with the challenges and reap the rewards that come with improving the way in which they do business.

We have been solving data and efficiency problems for energy participants for almost 15 years and that has enabled us to set a benchmark within the industry.

Mike

Founder and CEO

Ask any of us at Brave what Mike brings to the table in addition to the much-needed skills of a successful CEO and we will tell you ‘it’s his ideas’. It’s no wonder Mike has built such a strong and successful brand because he never, ever, stops.

A highly experienced corporate manager, Mike not only has a software engineering background, he also has a deep passion for all things energy. He has had 30 years of experience in building successful organisations in the IT industry, focusing primarily on mission-critical utility software. Mike is used to managing large teams of people and clearly enunciating innovative strategic visions. We think Mike and Trent are a perfect match, and our customers ongoing improvements and success are both evidence of that.

Trent

Founder and CTO

Before Brave was born, Trent consulted as an IT professional to the Utilities industry, including retailers, distributors and metering services businesses for 12+ years. He performed varying roles including program management, project management, systems architecture, software development and business analytics. As such, you can only imagine the depth of knowledge that Trent has across the sectors.

For the past 10 years, Trent has devoted his knowledge and skills to developing outstanding technology for participants in the Australian Utilities market. Trent co-founded Brave Energy Systems with Mike and is currently our Chief Technology Officer and Product Director. Trent has the crucial responsibility of the overall product strategy, forever evolving our solutions to create the most possible benefits for our customers.

Spare time activities: travel – for adventure, awareness and strong memories… and also to open his children’s eyes to the good, bad and their fortuity.

Peter

COO

Peter Tillig has had 35 years experience in the Information Technology industry in large public and private sector organisations. He is an experienced corporate manager, leading IT companies of over 50 staff, delivering software development and implementation projects with budgets of several million dollars.

For the past 15 years Peter has focused on the Australian Utilities Industry.

Peter H

GM, Business Development

Pete is the voice of the customer within Brave and he represents this in both the executive team and the broader business. In addition to nurturing new customer needs, Pete cares deeply about project engagement – ensuring we are delivering just as our customers were promised (or better!).

With a long list of achievements in the Utilities industry, Pete has worked across regulated and deregulated markets in project management, regulatory, customer operations, account management and business development.

Safe to say Pete not only knows Brave intimately, he also knows just the solution to our customers challenges. No matter how hard they think it might be, Pete is about finding a way.

Life mantra:  ‘there are many things money cannot buy: being polite, punctuality, enthusiasm, dedication, hard work and trust.’

Spare time activities: Splitting fire wood (yes you read right). Pete finds it a good workout and even better stress reliever. He also loves golf, however, we think his golf swing is more like his axe swing!

Rhiannon

Marketing Manager

Our newest member of the Brave management team, Rhi is all about looking at things differently. She is dedicated to connecting the heart and soul of our brand to the people around us – our customers and our team.

With 10 years of marketing up her sleeve and a deep love for B2B solutions, Rhi is focussed on expanding the improvements that we can bring to our customers lives, based on the evolution of technology, the industry and consumers.

Spare time activities: smothering Bindi (my pup), winding down with yoga, reading books (normally on strategy or leadership) and exploring both the world and our own backyard

Jamie

GM, Customer Delivery

A recent addition to our executive team, Jamie’s primary focus is on ensuring, and constantly improving, the successful delivery of our software solutions across our entire customer portfolio. Jamie thrives on the success of our customers and is driven to see our solutions bring the change and improvements they need within their business.

A rare asset, Jamie brings a unique balance of both managerial capability coupled with an extensive background in IT . Having worked in the IT industry for 20 years, his business acumen spans across consulting firms, Banking and Finance, Telecommunications and, of course, in-depth experience in Utilities.

Sarah

Lead Business Analyst

With an 11 year journey in the Utilities industry, Sarah is a highly valued asset here at Brave. Sarah has unbelievable skills in business analytics, but what makes her so special is her ability to develop strong relationships with our customers, project teams and businesses.

Driven to see our customers succeed and Brave lead in our space, Sarah’s expert analysis, documentation and recommendations of programs of work leaves our customers over the moon and our project team ready to dive right in.

Spare time activities: as a born communicator, Sarah loves interacting with people and fostering new relationships

Channa

Manager, Brave Managed Services

After 17 years of senior experience in the Electricity and Gas sector, Channa is heading up our Managed Services division. He and his team implement and manage the back-of-house operations so that our customers can have an end-to-end integrated solution.

Channa loves keeping pace with the innovations that arise from our unique customer requirements whilst still focussing on cost, efficiency and compliance.

Shikha has been working in IT testing and QA methodologies for the past 12 years. Thanks to Shikha our testing and quality capabilities are continuously being improved, meaning her job is awesome because she gets to make our customers even happier.

We think Jamie is at the centre of our success here at Brave. Responsible for the effectiveness of the IT infrastructure planning, management and support for both our team members and our customers, Jamie is the guy that keeps things ‘moving and improving’.

With 12+ years in telecommunications and a love for all things IT, Jamie brings a perfect blend of managing immediate needs, whilst having long term business improvements in mind. Whether it is assisting our customers with hosting support, or enabling our ongoing business operations, Jamie is always first in line to help out.

Mostafa

Production Support Manager

When we asked Mostafa what he is responsible, his answer was as true and humble as they come. He said ‘my job is to take care of my customers’. It’s this kind of thinking that makes Mostafa amazing at what he does, because he will always put our customers first.

Maintaining the readiness and operational capability of our customers corporate systems by providing a team of technical support staff, Mostafa is driven by the success of others. With 17 years in the IT industry and 10 years of experience in the energy sector, Mostafa is most happy when he knows systems are stable and Service Level Agreements are consistently being met.
